Not a week after Aliya and Heida left*, Tracy, a roommate and friend from Cornell (that I hadn't seen in five years!!!) came to stay with me at good old Plot 31. Tracy is head of water and sanitation for Oxfam in North Sudan, an intense position involving travel between 8 different sites, and was in Uganda for her much needed R&R. It was fantastic swapping stories and catching up on all that has been the last five years. Unfortunately, I had to do that "work" thing while she was here, but that didn't stop her from hitting up Queen Elizabeth, tracking chimps and gorillas, and going rafting.
Our Kampala time was spent doing/eating those things you can't/don't have time for in Sudan, e.g. staying out past a 10pm curfew, eating Japanese and "Mexican-Asian fusion" cuisine, legally consuming alcoholic beverages, getting a massage, shopping...and other such strenuous endeavors. I'm forever indebted to Tracy for her amazing movie and music collection...that is also now my movie and music collection :-)
