Internationally renowned South African singer and Princess of Africa Yvonne Chaka-Chaka came to Uganda at the end of July on the United Against Malaria ticket to lend her weight to the African Union Summit. As a woman of both song and philanthropic titles, including Ambassador for Roll Back Malaria, she fit in perfectly at the maternal and child health themed forum. We kept her on her toes during her short stint here, starting with a breakfast address to UAM corporate partners, moving on to a visit with school kids organized by Right to Play, and culminating in a speech and performance at the AU dinner gala with Heads of State and other dignitaries. Perform she did...the entire ball room was doubled over in hysterics as she seductively belted out the lyrics to "Na-tu-ral Woman" in the ears and on the laps of Museveni, Mutharika, Magabe and Kikwete, the presidents of Uganda, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Tanzania, respectively!
