Ngorongoro Gazing

Our trip to Ngorongoro Crater can pretty much be summed up with this:
That's right. Lion sex. Props to Becca for capturing this tender moment. It was exactly as David Shelburne describes it: "quick, repetitive, and unsuccessful." Actually, we can't attest to the last with any certainty, but we did see these two have three 45-second trysts in a matter of 20 minutes. Sigh. So romantic.

Perhaps even more unlikely a sighting than mating lions was this exotic beast:
The United Against Malaria Kingsley Holgate expedition! I can't escape work even when I'm trying to escape work ;-)  I flagged them down for a chat from the roof about where they'd been so far, and what we've been up to for UAM in Uganda.

After mating lions and Kinglsey Holgate, there was only one thing left to see. "Goddy, we want a rhino." Goddy got us a rhino. As the first to find them, Goddy also got a lot of thumbs ups from the drivers racing toward the rhino from all corners of the crater. Big tips all around that day.
Safari success!
